Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill is delighted to announce that our Employment and Industrial Relations Consultant, Lim Heng Seng, has been invited to speak on Legal Pluralism and Indigeneity in Sarawak and Sabah: Issues and Challenges. The conference, organised by University Malaya (UM) and University Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), will be held on the 7th of August 2024 (Wednesday), at the Dayak Cultural Foundation in Kuching, Sarawak.
Mr. Lim’s panel session, titled “Legal Pluralism: Impact of Article 121 (1A) on Minority Rights and Institutions”, will take place at 10:30AM as part of Panel 1, exploring the implications of legal pluralism on minority rights and institutions within Malaysia’s constitutional framework.
This conference is part of UM’s Centre for Legal Pluralism and Indigenous Law’s initiatives and aims to identify issues in legal pluralism with a focus on indigeneity, explore customs and customary laws within constitutional legal pluralism, address intercultural and intergenerational issues in environmental governance, and enhance understanding of indigenous traditional knowledge.
