Jay Fong Jia Sheng – Tax, Customs and Trade

Jay Fong works with Consultant, Dato’ Nitin Nadkarni, and Partners, Jason Tan Jia Xin, Ivy Ling Yieng Ping, and Chris Toh Pei Roo. His practice encompasses income tax, real property gains tax, stamp duty, transfer pricing, and indirect tax. His work spans tax controversy, advisory, compliance, risk management and due diligence.

Jay has been involved in some of Malaysia’s most high-profile tax cases. He has advised multinational corporations, government-linked companies, manufacturers, financial institutions, SMEs, and individuals in navigating tax audits, investigations and disputes.

Jay is able to draw on, in addition to his tax practice, his prior experience in construction and arbitration, and as an in-house lawyer and corporate strategist, to deliver commercially grounded insights to client matters. He has published in various reputable journals, including the Current Law Journal, and the Malayan Law Journal.

Jay graduated with a first-class degree from the University of Liverpool and was placed on the Dean’s List for the Bar Professional Training Course. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2018 and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2019.
