Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill is pleased to announce the promotion of associates Andrea Chew Mei Yng and Eleena Abd Wahab to senior associates, with effect from 1 April 2021.
Andrea Chew Mei Yng ― Banking and Insolvency Practice
Andrea commenced practice with the firm’s Banking and Insolvency Practice in April 2017. She works with Sean Yeow Huang-Meng and Hoi Jack S’ng. Andrea handles a wide range of civil and commercial disputes, primarily focusing on banking and insolvency matters. She also advises and defends companies prosecuted for regulatory offences.
Andrea is one of the contributing editors for the Malaysian Civil Procedure 2018 and the 1st and 2nd Editions of Bullen & Leake & Jacob’s Malaysian Precedents of Pleadings.
Andrea obtained her LLB from the University of London and holds a Certificate in Legal Practice. She was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2016.
Eleena Abd Wahab ― Technology, Media and Telecommunications Practice
Eleena commenced practice in May 2017 with the Corporate Practice, where she focused on corporate transactional and advisory work. Her experience in corporate practice included assisting foreign clients in greenfield and brownfield investments in Malaysia across various industries. Eleena joined the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Practice in March 2020 and works with Teo Wai Sum. Her main areas of practice are telecommunications, data protection, and regulatory and compliance.
She has experience in advising leading local and multinational players in the telecommunications sector on the drafting and negotiating of access agreements, licensing and regulatory requirements, and other commercial issues. She regularly assists statutory bodies, multinational, local and government-linked entities, as well as start-ups on various data protection matters, including conducting a comprehensive personal data protection compliance exercise and advising on data protection concerns in cross-border transactions. Additionally, Eleena also focuses on regulatory and compliance matters, where she has advised on a myriad of compliance concerns in the areas of consumer protection, competition, financial services, anti-money laundering, and prevention and control of infectious diseases.
Eleena read law at the University of Reading (LLB) and thereafter, pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) at Cardiff University. She was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in March 2017.
