Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill is pleased to announce the promotion of the following associates to senior associates, with effect from 1 January 2021:
Chan Mun Yew ― Corporate and Commercial Disputes Practice
Mun Yew commenced practice with a team that handles telecommunications & information technology disputes, under G Vijay Kumar. His practice covers an extensive range of high-value disputes and technical subject matters such as the construction and implementation of state-wide network projects, network facilities and infrastructures, network services, IT systems integration and ICT agreements.
He also handles civil, commercial and corporate disputes for various multinational corporations, public-listed companies and their subsidiaries, as well as private limited companies and individuals on a regular basis. His experience includes dealing with shareholders’ disputes, directors’ duties and liabilities, corporate fraud, contractual and tortious disputes.
He also works closely with Lambert Rasa-Ratnam, who leads the firm’s Dispute Resolution Practice on various matters. He has represented clients as the lead counsel/co-counsel at all levels of the Malaysian courts and in arbitration.
Mun Yew read law at Cardiff University and graduated in 2013. He is a member of the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn and was called to the Bar of England & Wales in 2015. He was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2016.
Iris Tang Shu Ni ― Restructuring and Insolvency Practice
Iris commenced her legal career as legal counsel of a telecommunications-related company. In 2016, she started legal practice with the Dispute Resolution team of a large law firm in Malaysia. She joined LHAG’s Restructuring and Insolvency Practice, under Mong Chung Seng, in August 2019.
Iris is a commercial litigator whose main practice areas are banking and insolvency litigation. She acts for insolvency practitioners in highly contentious insolvency disputes and advises clients on a range of insolvency matters. She also advises and represents financial institutions and accounting firms in debt recovery, bankruptcy and winding-up proceedings. She has acted in contentious winding-up proceedings and disputes in relation to judicial management proceedings.
She also has experience in highly contentious disputes on novel points of law that have become landmark Federal Court decisions.
Iris read law at Northumbria University and graduated in 2013. She was admitted to the High Court of Malaya as an advocate and solicitor in 2015.
Keith Lim Boon Long ― Tax, SST and Customs Practice
Keith joined the firm in 2015 and works with Dato’ Nitin Nadkarni and Jason Tan Jia Xin, partners of the Tax, SST and Customs Practice. He is a contributor to the Malaysian Civil Procedure (White Book) and the Tax Guardian. He also regularly presents at tax conferences, including the annual National Tax Conference, the National GST Conference and the MATA Conference.
Keith’s practice primarily focuses on tax litigation, tax advisory and tax planning. He is well-experienced in a wide range of areas, namely transfer pricing, income tax, real property gains tax, withholding tax and stamp duty. He draws his vast experience from representing and advising multinational corporations, government-linked companies and Malaysian group companies in various industries.
Keith has appeared before all levels of the Malaysian courts. He has also been involved in numerous tax investigations and tax audit assignments that require him to act on behalf of clients in meetings and negotiations with the tax authorities.
Keith, who read law at Universiti Malaya, was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2016.
Ngo Su Ning ― Banking and Insolvency Practice
Su Ning is a member of the Banking and Insolvency Practice, under Kumar Kanagasingam, with whom she has worked in fraud and complex recovery matters. She also has experience in civil and commercial disputes such as contractual disputes and business torts. In addition, Su Ning often advises clients on defamation issues.
She has also written a number of published articles, including “6 Key Takeaways from the COVID-19 Act”, “Is a Draft Agreement Prepared by Your Lawyer a Form of Legal Advice” and “Order for Injunction in Defamation” (Legal Herald, June 2019). She is also a contributor to the Malaysian Civil Procedure (White Book) (Thomson Reuters, 2018 edition).
Su Ning read law at Cardiff University, and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2016, after completing her pupillage with the firm.
Nurul Husna Ahmad ― Islamic Finance Practice
Husna joined the Islamic Finance Practice, under Megat Hizaini Hassan, in June 2016. Her experience includes advising Islamic financial institutions and non-financial institutions on Islamic financial products structured based on various Shariah principles, and advising various clients in Sukuk issuances. Husna has also advised local and international clients on the legal and regulatory framework for conventional and Islamic financial transactions in Malaysia and abroad.
She is also a co-author of a number of articles that have been published by CLJLaw.
An alumna of the International Islamic University Malaysia, Husna was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2011. She holds a Masters in Banking and Finance Law from the University of Melbourne.
