Siew Hui Yi ― Corporate & Commercial Dispute Resolution
Hui Yi works principally with a long-standing Partner, SM Shanmugam, in the Corporate & Commercial Dispute Resolution practice group. She has extensive experience in a wide range of corporate and commercial disputes, both in court and arbitration. Her primary areas of expertise include breach of directors’ duties, civil fraud, tortious disputes, as well as securities litigation. She also advises and represents private clients in relation to estate planning and all stages of estate administration.
Hui Yi is one of the contributors to the Annotated Statutes of Malaysia: Companies Commission of Malaysia Act 2001 [Act 614] (LexisNexis, Issue 189), the Malaysian chapter of The Private Wealth and Private Client Review (The Law Reviews, 12th edition), and the Malaysian chapter in the international guide Fundamental Principles & Interim and Precautionary Measures, Compendium of Worldwide Enforcement of Foreign Judgment (Multilaw). She also co-authored various articles published by the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Dispute Practice, which have since been picked up by CLJ Law.
Hui Yi holds a First Class LLB (Hons) degree from Multimedia University and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2019.
Teh Wai Fung ― Energy, Projects, Infrastructure & International Arbitration
Wai Fung works with Consultant, Dato’ Nitin Nadkarni, and Partner, Crystal Wong Wai Chin. His practice primarily involves international and domestic arbitration and dispute-related advice relating to energy, utilities, construction, and commercial disputes, such as failure incidents, payment disputes, and contested terminations. This includes institutional arbitrations seated in Paris, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, and Kuala Lumpur, involving jurisdictional challenges, emergency arbitration, and applications for joinder and consolidation. He has also acted in arbitration-related litigation up to the Federal Court concerning interim measures and challenges to arbitral awards.
Wai Fung co-authored the Malaysian chapter in Direct Jurisdiction: Asian Perspectives (Hart 2021) and individually authored the Malaysian chapter in Treatment of Foreign Law in Asia (Hart 2023), both as part of the international series Studies in Private International Law: Asia. He has also been published by the Malayan Law Journal, the Current Law Journal, and the Master Builders Association Journal, and has spoken on arbitration and private international law at various events.
Wai Fung read law at Durham University. He was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2018 and admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2020.
Medha Ong Ann Ting ― Corporate & Commercial Dispute Resolution | Banking & Insolvency
Medha commenced practice with the firm’s Corporate & Commercial Dispute Resolution and Banking & Insolvency practice groups in February 2020, and works alongside with Partner, Mong Chung Seng, and other dispute resolution partners.
Medha has experience in a wide range of contentious banking and insolvency disputes. She regularly advises and represents financial institutions and major accounting firms in recovery, corporate restructuring, bankruptcy, and winding-up proceedings. She has acted in contentious liquidation proceedings and disputes in relation to judicial management proceedings.
Apart from her active banking and insolvency portfolio, Medha also handles various contractual and commercial disputes in court and arbitration proceedings. She represents statutory bodies and private entities in disputes involving, among others, civil fraud, conspiracy, breach of contract, and director’s breach of fiduciary duties.
Medha is a contributing editor to the Malaysian Civil Procedure (White Book) (Sweet & Maxwell, Asia) 2021.
Medha holds an LLB (Hons) from Queen Mary, University of London, and was called to the Bar of England and Wales before being admitted as an advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya.
