Vijay Kumar and Senior Associate Arissa Ahrom will be speaking at the “Navigating the Complexity of Data Privacy Risk and Liabilities”, organised by LexisNexis in collaboration with L2 i-CON International and Legal Plus. This two-day event, held on the 21 and 22 October 2024 at the St. Giles Boulevard Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, brings together leading experts, regulators, and industry professionals to provide key insights into PDPA compliance, risk management, and the latest developments in data privacy laws in Malaysia.

Vijay’s session is scheduled for the first day (21 October 2024) from 12:00PM to 1:00PM, where he will discuss “Challenges II – Threat and Cybersecurity”, exploring the evolving threat landscape and how companies can protect themselves against these challenges while fostering a strong cybersecurity culture. He will be joined by Mohamad Izwan Zakaria (Managing Partner, Izwan & Partners), Avinderjit Singh Rakhra (Technology Counsel, Digital Nasional Berhad), with the session moderated by Thina Mariappan (Senior Legal Counsel, LexisNexis Southeast Asia).

Arissa will co-facilitate two comprehensive masterclass sessions alongside Eleena Abd Wahab (Legal Counsel (Data Privacy), PETRONAS), on the second day (22 October 2024), starting with “Conducting Data Privacy Impact Assessments (DPIAs)”, at 9:00AM, providing a comprehensive guide to performing DPIAs focusing on identifying and minimising data protection risks within organisations. This will be followed by “Effective Data Breach Management and Response Strategies” at 11:30AM, where participants will be guided through a simulated data breach scenario, focusing on real-time decision-making and crisis management.
