Dato’ Nitin’s session is scheduled as the first session from 10:30AM to 11:30AM, where he will be speaking on “Third-Party Funding: Liberalisation of the Maintenance and Champerty Doctrine and the Challenges Ahead”, alongside Professor Victoria Shannon Sahani (Professor of Law at Boston University) and Ms. Kim M. Rooney (Chair of the Hong Kong Law Reform Commission’s Sub-committee on Third Party Funding for Arbitration), moderated by Mr. Álvaro López de Argumedo (Partner at Uría Menéndez).
Presented in collaboration with the Legal Affairs Division of the Prime Minister’s Department (BHEUU) and supported by the Inns of Court Malaysia (ICM), this webinar aims to collect global insights on third-party funding, providing a thorough assessment of the possible challenges and regulatory gaps in many jurisdictions, including the potential for abuse and injustice, especially in cases involving sovereign states.
