Partner Jason Tan Jia Xin, Chris Toh Pei Roo, and Associate Chua Chun Yang of Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill‘s Tax, Customs and Trade Practice Group recently contributed the Malaysian chapter to Lexology’s In-Depth: Tax Disputes and Litigation (12ᵗʰ Edition) 2024. This publication also features chapters from 18 other jurisdictions. This is the fifth time the team has contributed to this publication, having also authored the Malaysian chapters for the 7ᵗʰ, 8ᵗʰ, 9ᵗʰ, and 11ᵗʰ editions previously.
The Malaysian chapter provides a practical overview of common issues that give rise to tax disputes in the country. It covers procedures for resolving tax disputes and disputing decisions by the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia, procedures for claiming refunds, associated costs, and more importantly, the recent developments in tax jurisprudence by the Malaysian courts.
